Malay, Aklan—The Malay Tourism Office (MTO) reported a 15 percent increase in tourist arrivals in April this year despite higher fuel costs driven by tensions in the Middle East.
In a Facebook post Saturday, the MTO recorded 225,030 total visitors, including 195,459 domestic tourists, 27,312 foreign tourists, and 2,259 overseas Filipinos.
He said the local government has rolled out new programs to sustain Boracay’s status as a premier beach destination.
These include an anti-vice task force aimed at curbing illegal activities during nightlife and beach parties, as well as environmental initiatives with national agencies and volunteer divers.
