Iloilo City-CARD MRI conducted a media tour on small-scale businesses that have benefited from its microfinance services in the city and province of Iloilo.
The media from Mindoro, Laguna, Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo were part of the March 26-29, 2026 exposure tour program dubbed as “Panaghiusa”.
Regional officer Gabby Quirol reiterated to the media that CARD MRI’s primary mission is poverty eradication through microfinance services.
In Iloilo alone, more than 34,000 members have benefited from CARD MRI’s programs and gained access to financial support aimed at improving livelihoods and sustaining small enterprises.
While CARD MRI has helped give stability to small-scale businesses, it faces a big challenge in loan collection.
Quirol noted that some members maintain multiple loans from different financing institutions, making repayment more difficult. This situation poses a significant hurdle in ensuring consistent collection and financial sustainability for CARD MRI.
To address this, CARD MRI has adopted a compassionate and flexible approach. Members who are unable to pay their dues on time are given opportunities to restructure their payments by allowing them to meet their obligations without undue pressure.
This system reflects CARD MRI’s continued commitment in supporting its members while promoting responsible borrowing and repayment practices.
Meanwhile, the media tour included cooking demos of popular Ilonggo food such as kadyos, baboy at langka (KBL) and biscocho.
