KALIBO, Aklan- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD6) has recently conducted its Lakbay Lingkod initiative in the province of Aklan, gathering local government unit together to prepare for the next year’s social welfare and development (SWD) programs supported under the General Appropriations Act (GAA).
Spearheaded by the agency’s Policy and Plans Division Technical/Advisory, Assistance, and Other Related Support Services (TAAORSS) Section, the activity was held in partnership with Aklan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), headed by Evangelina F. Galena.
A total of Ten GAA-target LGUs joined the activity, where they shared updates on the SWD services, operational realities, and pressing concerns respectively during the open forum.
This effort is intended to align LGU priorities, clarify processes for the Service Delivery Capacity Assessment (SDCA), and map out strategies for effective implementation. Topics discussed during the activity were the SDCA results from 2022 to 2024, plans for the 2025 re-assessment, and guidance on requesting resource persons for 2026. A timeline for a virtual re-orientation on SDCA and Compliance Monitoring Assessment (CMA) was also tackled along with updates to the LGU directory.
The activity headed by Policy and Plans Division Chief Luna S. Moscoso and other regional and provincial officials paved the way for a broader convergence of all Aklan LGUs both GAA and non-GAA funded municipalities for further direction in the coming months./mjbrendia
