The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will officially launch this June the GSIS Subsidy for STEM Program (GSSP), a new educational assistance initiative for qualified children of GSIS active members pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

The program supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.โ€™s call to expand access to quality education and develop a future-ready Filipino workforce through investments in learning and skills development.

The GSSP is open to children of GSIS active members with permanent employment status, Salary Grade 15 and below, and updated premium payments for the last three months. Eligible nominees must be incoming first-time college freshmen who obtained a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90 percent in Senior High School and are enrolled in identified STEM degree programs.

Qualified grantees will receive โ‚ฑ15,000 per academic year to help support their educational expenses.

GSIS has allotted 1,000 slots nationwide, with twenty percent (20%) reserved for applicants from special sectors, including Indigenous Peoples (IPs), solo parent families, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and other qualified groups.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the program, GSIS will conduct a nationwide orientation for GSIS-assigned coordinators covering the program guidelines, requirements, application procedures, and selection process.

President Marcos has consistently emphasized that education remains one of the administrationโ€™s top priorities, stressing that every Filipino student deserves access to quality education and a better future.

Through the GSIS Subsidy for STEM Program, GSIS reaffirms its commitment to helping provide quality education opportunities and empowering more Filipino learners to succeed in fields that drive innovation and national development.
