KALIBO, Aklan-  The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI continues to strengthen its implementation in Aklan through strategic partnerships with various government, private, academic, and civil society organizations.
For the first quarter of 2026, SLP Aklan strengthened its collaboration with key government agencies, including the 82nd Infantry Battalion and the Aklan Police Provincial Office, promoting peace and development by providing livelihood support to communities. These partnerships play a vital role in reaching vulnerable sectors, including those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Support from academic institutions, including Aklan State University and Northwestern Visayas Colleges, has also contributed to advancing food security initiatives through technical assistance and capacity-building activities for SLP participants. Meanwhile, the Northwestern Panay Mission of the Seventh Day Adventist will support values formation and organizational development, strengthening the social dimension of the program.
In addition, collaboration with private organizations such as Home of Paws Aklan has opened opportunities for product marketing and community engagement, helping SLP participants expand their market reach.
Further strengthening its inclusive approach, SLP Aklan has recently partnered with Aklan BagHay Inc. and the Integrated Rehabilitation and Security Unit (IRSU) to explore livelihood opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), ensuring that no sector is left behind in the program’s implementation.
These partnerships highlight the importance of collective action in achieving sustainable development. Through strong collaboration across sectors, SLP Aklan continues to empower communities and build resilient livelihoods for Aklanons./Glory Mae Panase
