BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan — The Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) brought its PTAA Konek initiative to Boracay, gathering government agencies and tourism industry partners to strengthen business collaboration and explore new opportunities for the island’s tourism sector.
Led by PTAA President Jaison Yang, the initiative highlighted the importance of connecting tourism stakeholders with government decision-makers and industry partners to develop new visitor experiences and expand business opportunities.
A major highlight of the event was the participation of Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista in a panel discussion, underscoring the local government’s role in supporting tourism businesses and strengthening partnerships with industry stakeholders.
Among the proposals discussed were e-biking, pickleball and a proposed 3D museum, which could diversify Boracay’s tourism offerings and provide additional opportunities for local enterprises.
Key industry partners also shared their perspectives on improving tourism services and accessibility. Philippine Airlines (PAL) emphasized the importance of air connectivity in attracting visitors and supporting tourism growth, while VFS Global expressed its commitment to making visa services more accessible through convenient, doorstep solutions.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) reaffirmed its support for the industry through its programs, partnerships with PTAA and the Travel Tour Expo (TTE), which provides opportunities to promote destinations and connect tourism businesses with potential markets.
Also participating in the initiative were Gabriel Pamularco Cahilig of DOT Region VI, Ryan Madraso of Philippine Airlines, Syed Shahen Shah of VFS Global, and Dindo Salazar of the Boracay Foundation Inc.
The Hennan Group was recognized for providing the venue and supporting the gathering of tourism stakeholders.
Through PTAA Konek, the association aims to strengthen cooperation among government agencies, airlines, visa service providers and local tourism organizations, turning industry dialogue into practical business opportunities.
The initiative reinforces the importance of collaboration in sustaining Boracay’s competitiveness as a leading Philippine tourist destination while encouraging the development of new experiences for visitors.
