Royal Air eyes resuming flights for Taiwan tourists

BORACAY Island, Malay Aklan- The Royal Airlines is reportedly eyeing to resume its flights from Taipei to Kalibo according to Malay Mayor Floribar Bautista.

In an interview, Bautista said he received reports that the Royal Airlines will be resuming their flights on December 1.

“I hope it will materialize. I hope to meet with the officials of the Bureau of Customs next week to discuss the details of their possible arrival,” he said.

Direct flights to Taipei and from the KIA had been suspended in 2019 due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Taiwanese tourists were among the top five foreign tourists visiting Boracay prior to the pandemic.

In June of this year, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines announced the resumption of direct flights from several cities in South Korea to KIA. Almost all of the passengers were bound for Boracay Island.

In an earlier interview, Peter Tay, a Singaporean national and the liaison officer of the Chinese Embassy in Boracay, said that the embassy plans to allow the resumption of direct flights from China to KIA in the last quarter of 2023.
