IBAJAY, AklanโSenator Bong Revilla pledged Friday morning some P15 million for the local government of Ibajay, Aklan. Revilla was here to witness the distribution of a cash aid program for hundreds of poor students, a Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) program.
“The P15 million will be used to air condition the Ibajay gymnasium,” said Revilla. His visit also coincides with the opening salvo of the Ibajay Ati-atihan Festival.
The Ibajay ati-atihan is known in the province as a place where the famous ati-atihan originated, inspiring other festivals in the country such as the Kalibo Ati-atihan, the Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo, and the Sinulog Festival of Cebu.
“I am here to serve the people of Aklan. Having experienced political harassment in the past and as my case has been dismissed, I am more eager to serve the Filipino people,” he said.
Ibajay Mayor Miguel Miraflores said while Senator Revilla was in Ibajay, he visited the Sto. Nino image at the Ibajay Parish.
The Miraflores family believed that when a politician would visit and pray for the Sto. Nino of Ibajay Ati-atihan, the politician, will be blessed, and he will be assured of winning the forthcoming 2025 national and local elections.
