Tourists coming from the key countries in Russia-Ukraine war visits Boracay this March 2022

BORACAY Island, Malay, Aklan- Tourists coming from the major countries involved in the Russian-Ukraine war were able to visit the premier island of Boracay this March 2022.

In a report of the Malay Tourism Office (MTO), some 150, 597 foreign and local tourists visited this resort island last month. Of the said number, 145, 440 were domestic tourists and another 1, 624 were Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW’s). Some 2, 533 are foreign tourists.

Many of them came from countries which had direct or indirect involvement in the Russian invasion over Ukraine. The Russian government started the attempt of the Ukraine invasion last February 24, 2022.

According to the MTO, Boracay in March 2022 was visited by some 29 Ukrainian nationals while 13 were from Russia. Even tourists coming from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries have also been able to visit Boracay in March.

Several sectors abroad have been calling NATO to intervene in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Among those Boracay tourists coming from NATO were Belgium who registered 15 tourists; Bulgaria, 2; Canada 137; Croatia, 4; Czech Republic, 14; Denmark, 19; Estonia, 6; France, 94; Germany, 161; Greece, 8; Hungary, 10; Iceland, 1; Italy, 19; Latvia, 2; Lithuania,2; Luxembourg, 8; Netherlands, 42; Norway, 22; Poland, 17; Portugal, 6; Romania, 12; Spain, 13; Turkey, 30; United Kingdom, 211 and the United States of America having 609 tourists.

The Malay Police station maintained Boracay is a safe tourist destination.
