A 75 year old retired teacher is the latest victim of the rampant Budol-Budol scam, around 8:30am last Monday as the victim was withdrawing money from an ATM machine of a bank located in 19 Martyrs St. Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan
In a report by DYRU 92.9 Kalibo, it is stated that after the victim withdraw her money from the ATM, she was supposed to go directly to a pharmacy, but a woman claiming to be a former teacher of her child suddenly approached her and started a conversation with her.
It wasn’t long before she was convinced by the woman to accompany her to a nearby van where she would give her some Souvenirs. When they arrived at the van, a man, who is supposed to be the driver, was already there; another woman also came and inquired about purchasing 19 fire extinguishers.
The suspects then took out a clutch bag which according to them, was full of money. The last thing she remembered was some sort of substance that the suspects sprayed on her which is believed to leave people vulnerable to persuasion.
The suspects were able to take P6, 000 in cash, two ATM cards, and two gold earrings in exchange for the clutch bag said to be filled with money. They sent the victim home where, after regaining her wit, the bag which was locked, was then hastily opened; to the shock of everyone, all it contained was nothing but a bunch of paper.
Checking the ATM accounts revealed that the bandits have already taken out P46, 000 so it was decided to have the cards blocked.
Meanwhile, the incident was immediately put to record with the Police and currently Investigations are still ongoing.
