MANILA, PhilippinesโOperatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Intelligence Division arrested two Indian nationals during the implementation of a mission order in Antipolo City on January 29.
Arrested were Sukhbir Singh, 28, and Sawan Singh, 30, both Indian nationals, who were taken into custody in a residential area at Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City.
The operation was carried out by the BI Regional Intelligence Operations Unit IV (RIOU-IV) and Special Response Team pursuant to a duly issued mission order from BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.
Prior to the arrest, BI operatives coordinated with the Antipolo Component City Police Station to ensure proper law enforcement support.
BI teams located Sukhbir Singh at his residence and effected the arrest. During the operation, another foreign national, identified as Sawan Singh, interfered with the enforcement activity.
BI operatives also noted an attempt to offer money to personnel during the operation, which was immediately refused and led to the arrest of Sawan.
Both foreign nationals were subsequently taken into BI custody and transported to the BI main office, where they underwent standard booking procedures, including biometric capture, documentation, and verification through the Bureauโs information system.
In a statement, the Bureau of Immigration reiterated its commitment to enforcing Philippine immigration laws and maintaining the integrity of its operations.
โThose who try to interfere with legitimate BI operations will face sanctions,โ warned Viado.
