
BORACAY Island, Malay Aklan-Yapak Village head Hector Casidsid is running again as a mayoralty candidate in the 2025 national and local elections.
It could be recalled that in 2022, Casidsid ran for mayor and garnered 10,134 votes.
The incumbent Frolibar Bautista generated 16,134 votes. In October 2023, Casidsid was proclaimed village chief for his third and final term. He then defeated incumbent Malay councilor Jhonel Apio Casidsid.
Bautista, on his part, said that he was ready to face the village chief once again.
“It is the right of everybody to run for office,” he said.
According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the filing date for the certificate of candidacy for next year’s election is set on October 1-8, 2024. The election day is May 12, 2025.
