
With multiple nominations secured this year, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is rallying public support to help the Philippines maintain its standing among Asiaโs best at the 2025
World Travel Awards, the agency announced on Wednesday (Apr. 9).
The country is poised to defend its titles with nominations as Asiaโs Leading Beach Destination, Asiaโs Leading Dive Destination, and Asiaโs Leading Island Destination.
Some of the Philippinesโ premier tourist destinations were also named as nominees in the following categories: Boracay as Asiaโs Leading Luxury Island Destination; Intramuros as Asiaโs Leading Tourist Attraction; and Cebu as Asiaโs Leading Wedding Destination.
In addition, the DOT also secured a nomination as Asiaโs Leading Tourist Board.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed delight at the nominations bestowed on the Philippines by the World Travel Awards, globally recognized as the โultimate hallmark of industry excellence.โ

They all reaffirm our steadfast commitment to carry out initiatives with sustainability and inclusivity in mindโefforts that have been made possible through the unwavering support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and his vision to establish the Philippines as a leading tourism powerhouse in Asia,โ she said.
Voting for the Philippines in the various categories of the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awardsโ opened on April 1 and will run until August 31, 2025. Voters must create an account at

The Philippines will defend the title of Asiaโs Leading Dive Destinations, a category dominated by the country for six consecutive years from 2019 until 2024. The country also clinched the Asiaโs Leading Beach Destination and Asiaโs Leading Island Destination awards in 2024. In the same year, the world-famous Boracay Island was honored as Asiaโs Leading Luxury Island Destination, the Spanish-era walled city of Intramuros as Asiaโs Leading Tourist Attraction, and Cebu as Asiaโs Leading Wedding Destination. The country garnered the said honors in its first hosting of the World Travel Awardsโ Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony last September 2024.
