Tangalan, Aklan- The local government of Tangalan has reportedly has the first case of African Swine Fever (ASF).
Reports gathered by the Boracay Island News Network (BINN) indicate that the first case was reported at Barangay Dapdap, Tangalan Aklan.
As this develops, results taken from several hogs from nearby Makato, Aklan are yet to be revealed. Results taken from random tests of hogs in Ibajay, Aklan, turned out negative.
The BINN tried to reach the Provincial Veterinary Office for comment, but according to Mabel Siรฑel, the Provincial Veterinarian Office could not provide disclosure to the said report as they were covered by a gag order issued by the Department of Agriculture in September last year.
The gag order was signed by DA Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban.

“The same source also told the BINN that prior to the manifestation of ASF symptoms in Barangay Dapdap, the said barangay was already cordoned off by both the Municipal Police Station and the barangay officials.
Recently, reports of an ASF virus were reported in Barangay Sigcay, Banga Aklan, but this was later denied by the Office of Provincial Agriculture. The first ASF case was reported in Balete, Aklan recently.
This writer also tried to ask for comment to Tangalan Mayor Gary Fuentes but he has yet to comment on the BINN query.
