AFC-Aklan conducts Participatory Monitoring and Tracking of Agriculture Projects

KALIBO, Aklan- Some members of the Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council-Aklan have been tapped by the Department of Agriculture (DA) as partners in the conduct of the Participatory, Monitoring and Tracking of Programs and Projects of the Department of Agriculture in the province.

Arnulfo Magcope, PAFC-Aklan president said that the DA partnership with the private sector has been strengthened as partners of the said department.
“We are thankful to President Ferdiand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr who is at the same time the DA Secretary for the initiative to strengthen the partnership with the PAFC, whose majority of the officers and members come from the private sector,” Magcope said.

The participation of the private sector ensures the transparency of DA related programs and projects in the countryside. The transparent assessment ensures the government’s savings.

The Aklan monitoring team was composed of Magcope; Vicmae Macavinta, PAFC-Aklan coordinator; Godynel Isedenia, PAFC-Aklan Vice Chairperson; Jun N. Aguirre of the Boracay Island News Network, PAFC-PIO; Lilli Ann Lachica, sectoral representative on the committee of rice; and Ilyn Belinario, APCO-Aklan. Also, Agricultural Engineer Maricris Guiriba and John Errasmus Mari Montiano representing the PAFC Central Office.

Among the towns visited by the PAFC monitoring team were Banga, Lezo, Ibajay, Numancia, and Tangalan.

“We are also thankful to Provincial Board Member Nemesio Neron, chair of the committee on agriculture, and Engr Alexys Apolinio, the Provincial Agriculture Office chief, for their support of our endeavor,” Magcope added.

After the evaluation, the recommendations were reported at an exit conference held in Iloilo City.

Among the recommended strategies were strengthened coordination between the government especially on high-funded projects, maximized technical, training, and capability development support among the beneficiaries, among others.
