PARANAQUE CITY, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested a Vietnamese national in Parañaque City for alleged overstaying, unauthorized employment, and suspected involvement in online scam activities.
BI operatives conducted the enforcement operation on November 11 at a unit inside a hotel along Roxas Boulevard, where they found Nguyen Phan Gia Khuong, 29, along with seven other Vietnamese nationals—seven males and one female.
According to initial findings, Khuong had reportedly remained in the country beyond his authorized stay and was allegedly involved in work and activities not permitted under his visa. Authorities also received information linking him to suspected online scam operations targeting foreign victims.
During the inspection, operatives discovered drug paraphernalia and several bullets inside another room in the same building. These items were immediately documented and turned over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado emphasized that the agency remains firm in its campaign against foreign nationals abusing the country’s hospitality.
“We will not allow individuals who violate our laws or engage in illegal operations to hide in the Philippines,” Viado said. “Our teams continue to intensify operations to ensure that those who pose risks to public safety are apprehended and removed.”
The subject and the other individuals found at the site were arrested and transferred to the BI Warden Facility, where they will remain in custody while undergoing deportation proceedings. #
