DENR Convenes Consultation Workshop on the Proposed Amendment of Road Easement per PP 1064

KALIBO, Aklan- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 convened a Consultation-Workshop on the Proposed Amendment of Presidential Proclamation No. 1064 (PP 1064) yesterday, March 16, 2026 at Royal Suites Condotel, Kalibo Aklan.
The proposed amendment seeks to adopt a 12-meter road setback, replacing the 30-meter requirement imposed in 2006.
The workshop opened with welcome messages from key officials who emphasized the critical need for a unified position between the Province of Aklan and the DENR, ensuring that the proposed amendment benefits all stakeholders involved.
To provide a solid foundation for the discussions, Atty. Connie Palmes delivered a comprehensive presentation on the legal and policy framework governing road easements. This was followed by a technical briefing from Engr. Meliton B. Solas of the Surveys and Mapping Division (SMD), who explained the practical rationale and necessity behind the amendment. Additionally, Engr. Vivien M. Alvarez, Chief of the SMD Surveys and Control Section, presented the specific road easement configurations based on the officially approved cadastral survey of Boracay Island.
The event was graced by Aklan Governor Hon. Jose Enrique M. Miraflores, 2nd District Congressman Hon. Florencio T. Miraflores, Malay Municipal Mayor Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista and Engr. Victor Veneracion of the DENR-Land Management Bureau.
Other participants included were representatives from the LMB, the Municipal Zoning and Planning Offices of LGU Malay, officials from Brgy. Yapak, and personnel from DENR Region 6, PENRO Aklan, and CENRO Boracay.
