KALIBO, Aklan- Poor children in communities will soon be provided with educational gadgets as civic society groups and business sectors go hand in hand to pursue this undertaking.
Ronald So, regional coordinator of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Human Resource Development Foundation Incorporated (PCCI-HRDFI) said that the provinces included in the said program were Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Bicol region and in Maguindanao.
Among the partner organizations in this program includes the PCCI-Aklan, Kami Antique Inc., Kiwanis Club of Kalibo Blue Diamonds and the Kiwanis Club-Kaibo Ati-atihan among others.
The six-month project is supported by the USAID, its implementing partner the Asia Foundation along with RTI International, SIL Lead, Florida State University, and the Department of Education.
“The idea is to promote mother tongue language to the learners. Hoping that learners would boost their comprehension and analytical skills,” So said.
Angelo Galvez of the PCCI-HRDFI Manila said that among the objectives of the project includes upskilling of some 8, 600 teachers and 1,300 school heads and supervisors.
Also, more than 80 teachers, school heads and supervisors to pilot remote instruction in Math.
“The project also hopes to develop 14.2 million units of K-Grade 3 Supplementary Reading Materials which would benefit 500,000 learners and 10,000 teachers, and also some 64 Television Based Instruction (TVBI) and Radio Based Instruction (RBI) materials,” Galvez said.
