Face the Face-to-Face?!

According to a data release by an international organization, ang Pilipinas na lamang ang natitirang bansa na hindi pa nakakabalik sa face-to-face classes simula ng naminsala ang COVID-19 Virus.

Sa kasalukuyan ang Pilipinas ay unti-unti nang pinaghahandaan ang opisyal na pagbabalik ng mga mag-aaral to their respective schools. Ang bawat paaralan ay inihahanda through adapting their facilities to the needed and required standards set by the government and the Department of Health along with the IATF.

Subalit, the question of whether is it really time for us to go back or are we ready to go back is still lingering. Marami pa ring mga magulang ang may takot na ilabas at pabalikin ang kanilang mga anak sa traditional na pagpasok sa paaralan.

Kahit pa na sa kasalukuyan ay maaari nang mabakunahan ang mga batang nasa edad 12 years old and above. Especially with the existence of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, threatening everyone’s safety.

Other students na nakatira far away from their schools are filled with mixed emotions. They are excited na magkaroon ng face-to-face classes but aside from the threat for their health and safety, nangangamba din sila na what if malagay sila sa isang alanganing sitwasyon.

Kung saan ay nakabalik na sila sa kanilang mga paaralan subalit biglang nagkaroon na naman ng nakakaalarmang pagtaas ng bilang ng mga COVID-19 positive patients and worst case scenario is that the ongoing f2f would be put on halt. Mala lockdown sila sa isang lugar malayo sa kani-kanilang pamilya.

No one would be able to predict what could happen, the statistics and data are just there to serve as a guide. We, citizens just hope that whatever decisions those people in positions would decide to make. We hope that it would be for the collective good and not for their own personal gain.
