The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has expanded its Emergency Loan program to cover additional areas in Luzon, following the declaration of a state of calamity by their respective local government units.

Starting July 25, members and pensioners  residing in Cainta, San Mateo, and Montalban in Rizal; and the cities of Malabon, Marikina, Las Piñas, Navotas, and Valenzuela, may apply for the  emergency loan until October 24, 2025.

GSIS also announced that members and pensioners residing or working in the Municipalities of Agoncillo in Batangas, Balagtas in Bulacan, Malasiqui in Pangasinan, Roxas in Palawan; Provinces of Bataan and Pampanga; and the City of Dagupan, Pangasinan may apply for the emergency loan until August 24, 2025.

These newly covered areas are in addition to the five locations earlier opened for loan availment: Cavite, Quezon City, Umingan in Pangasinan, Calumpit in Bulacan, and Manila.

“This expanded coverage is part of our continuing commitment to provide immediate relief to our members and pensioners affected by Tropical Storm Crising, habagat, and related calamities,” said GSIS Officer-in-Charge Juliet Bautista.

Qualified active members may borrow P20,000, or up to P40,000 if they have an existing emergency loan. The loan is payable in three years with a low interest rate of 6 percent per annum and no processing fee. Pensioners may also apply, provided they retain at least 25 percent of their net monthly pension after the loan deduction.

Applications may be submitted through the GSIS Touch mobile app, GWAPS kiosks, or over the counter in GSIS branches and designated government offices. Most borrowers now prefer the GSIS Touch app, which accounted for 99.79 percent of emergency loan applications during the program’s Day One rollout.

GSIS continues to monitor calamity declarations and is ready to open the emergency loan window in more areas as needed. Bautista assured, “As more LGUs submit their official declarations, we are prepared to extend assistance to ensure that no member is left behind in times of need.”
