Kalibo, Aklan- The Local Government Unit of Kalibo, through the Office of Human Resource Management (OHRM), successfully conducted the Mental Health Matters Seminar: Promoting Employee Well-Being and Resilience on March 17, 2026, at the Marikudo Hall, Ati-atihan County Inn. The one-day activity aimed to strengthen employee well-being through mental health awareness, spiritual nourishment, and resilience-building strategies.
The seminar gathered selected employees from various offices, all of whom were carefully chosen, particularly those who have manifested signs of workplace stress, frequently expressed feelings of burnout, or were experiencing emotional strain due to personal concerns. This targeted approach ensured that the intervention reached employees who would most benefit from psychosocial support and guidance.
The morning session featured Mr. Dannie F. Solidum, a Family Counselor and Mental Health Advocate, who delivered an insightful discussion on stress, burnout, and the signs of depression. He emphasized the importance of recognizing early warning signs and adopting healthy coping mechanisms. One of the highlights of his talk was his reflection on the two most important days in a personโs life: the day one is born and the day one discovers his or her purpose. This message resonated strongly with the participants, encouraging self-reflection and a renewed sense of direction. An open forum followed, providing participants the opportunity to share their experiences and seek advice.
In the afternoon session, Rev. Fr. Atty. Jude Isidro A. Rebaldo discussed mental health laws and the importance of spiritual wellness. He highlighted the legal frameworks that protect mental health rights while emphasizing the role of faith and spirituality in achieving inner peace and resilience. His session concluded with a spiritual nourishment and meditation exercise that allowed participants to reconnect with themselves, seek their inner light, and find calm amidst lifeโs challenges.
Overall, the seminar proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative. Participants expressed that they felt rejuvenated, more aligned with their personal and professional lives, and equipped with a clearer sense of purpose. Many also shared positive feedback about the seminar, noting its relevance, timeliness, and the effectiveness of the speakers in addressing real-life concerns.
The Mental Health Matters Seminar reflects OHRMโs continued commitment to upholding a healthy, supportive, and thriving workforce, one that values not only productivity but also the holistic well-being of every employee.
