NCDA crafts Philippine Disability Strategy and Action Plan

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), with support from Australian Aid, opened the first day of the Consultation Workshop for the Development of the Philippine Disability Strategy and Action Plan 2026โ€“2036 in San Juan City.
In her welcome remarks, Executive Director Glenda D. Relova expressed appreciation to the participating agencies and organizations, emphasizing the importance of a long-term strategy that will strengthen disability inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all Filipinos with disabilities.
Undersecretary Fatima Aliah Dimaporo, from the Legislativeand Intergovernmental Affairs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), also graced the event and conveyed the Departmentโ€™s support for the initiative.
The opening session brought together representatives from key National Government Agencies (NGAs), including DSWD, DOTr, DFA, DepEd, DPWH, DOLE, PIA, DOH, DICT, DILG, DOJ, TESDA, and DTI.
Also in attendance were representatives from various Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), including ATRIEV, ADHD Society of the Philippines, Autism Society Philippines (ASP), The Filipino Autistic Self-Advocacy Team (FAST), Philippine Federation of the Deaf, WOWLEAP Inc., Psychosocial Disability Inclusive Philippines (PDIP), and the Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PHILSPADA).
Day 1 featured presentations of position papers from participating Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), which highlighted key challenges, policy recommendations, and sectoral priorities from the disability community. These insights will serve as crucial inputs in formulating the Philippine Disability Strategy and Action Plan 2026โ€“2036, a roadmap that aims to advance the countryโ€™s disability inclusion efforts over the next decade.
