New Group of Akeanon Fashion Designers Formed
They now call themselves the Aklan Fashion Designers Association (AFDA).
Adriano Samar of Malay Aklan, who was elected as a founding chairman, told the Boracay Island News Network that among their priorities is not only to uplift young designers but also to promote the incorporation of local fabrics, especially piña, in their respective designs.
“We are Aklanon designers and creatives that aim to champion our local fashion and weaving industries,” he said.
Aside from Samar, other elected officers were Sheree Reynaldo of Banga as the Vice President for External Affairs, Joeriz Quinesio, who was named Vice President for Internal Affairs; Julin Maikaelo as secretary;
Ava Mae Ganzon, Treasurer; Alentueah Samonte, the assistant secretary and treasurer; Eugene Flores was the auditor; Carlos Eliserio and Lyndon Dalida were their business managers; and Mel Grecia Quimpo of Kalibo was their Public Information Officer.
