Senatorial aspirant and former DPWH Secretary Mark Villar graced LMP-Cebu assembly; officials voiced support

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar graced the 10th General Assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter.

In his message, Secretary Villar reported the accomplishments of DPWH under his leadership. He highlighted the completion of various infrastructure projects as envisioned by the Build Build Build Program in Cebu Province.

“In my capacity as former DPWH Secretary, we were able to construct numerous infrastructure projects for our fellow cebuanos namely; Inter-island Linkage/Mega Bridge Program– Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway; school buildings–Tayud Elementary School in Consolacion, evacuation centers-Dalaguete Evacuation Center, new roads–Metro Cebu Expressway; and Metro Cebu bike lane network in Cebu City, Talisay City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City,” Villar said.

Likewise, Senatorial aspirant Villar assured the LMP-Cebu officials of his full support on efforts to continue pushing for infrastructure projects that will ensure faster travel, will address school facilities requirements, will boost bicycle use and will provide safe evacuation for residents in times of crisis.

Former DPWH chief Villar also discussed his efforts in assisting Cebu in responding to the pandemic. “In the onset of the pandemic, we constructed isolation facilities for COVID patients and dormitories intended for medical frontlines here in Cebu,” Villar stated.

Furthermore, LMP-Cebu Chapter President and Vice President for Visayas Island Chapter–Liloan Mayor Esperanza Christina Frasco expressed her full support for Secretary Villar’s Senate candidacy in the May 2022 National and Local Elections.

As he ended his remarks addressing LMP-Cebu officials, Secretary Villar thanked LMP for the invitation and the support voiced in the assembly.

“Thank you for the usual support. It is my honor to be supported by the great leaders of Cebu. Let us continue piloting and adopting more innovative approaches to resiliency and sustainable development in your respective LGUs,” Villar ended.

The said general assembly was attended by all mayors of the 44 municipalities of Cebu Province last February 25, 2022. With an overwhelming number of attendees composed of LMP officials, staff, local government officials, current and former Cabinet Secretaries.
