“Malay officially opens its Balay Silangan Program for 2nd Batch”

The Malay Anti-Illegal Drugs Abuse Council (MADAC) headed by Hon. Frolibar Bautista, Acting Mun. Mayor with partners Agencies officially open the Balay Silangan Reformation Center for its 2nd Batch on Tuesday, March 1.
Eleven personalities from Brgy. Balabag are accommodated in Balay Silangan and have undergone the screening and background investigation by the Malay Municipal Police Station.
The drug reformists will undergo month-long general interventions such as continuing education and health awareness, and psychological/spiritual/physical activities, including counseling, moral recovery, values formation, personal and life skills, as well as livelihood and skills training programs to give reformers employment opportunities.
Balay Silangan, a community-based reformation program aimed at rehabilitating surrendered drug personalities, seeks to build temporary shelters for drug offenders with the objective of reforming them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.
The intervention, treatment and rehabilitation program in the facility will be supervised by the MHO and with the help from partner agencies: Malay PNP, PDEA, MSWDO, PESO and other NGOs.
The opening ceremony was attended by: Hon. Nikki Cahilig representing Hon. Frolibar Bautista, Acting. Mun. Mayor, IA Joy Tomas, PDEA Boracay representing IA V Jane Tuadles, PDEA Provincial Officer, PLT JUBEN VEGA, Chief Intel representing PLTCOL DON DICKSIE L DE DIOS, COP, Mr. Mark Delos Reyes, LGOO VI/MLGOO-DILG Malay, MS. Alma Beljerdo, MPDC, Ms. Annelie Sespene, Budget Officer, Dr. Athena Magdamit, MHO, Ms. Joan Victoriano, Focal Person, Ms. Jerre Mae Prado, MSWDO, Ms. Jona Solano, PESO, Mr. Jose Oczon, GSO, Mr. Aron Sendai, MADAC Head Secretariat, Mr. Renato Gelito, 1st Batch BLS Reformist, volunteer Doctors and the BADAC Focal Persons of Balabag, Manocmanoc, and Yapak.
Municipality of Malay has its 1st Batch of graduates from Balay Silangan Program last December 9, 2021. The 8 reformists are from Brgy. Manocmanoc and have successfully completed the Program.
The success of the Balay Silangan Program in Malay only shows the efforts and commitment of LGU, BADACs, Agencies involved and the community in fighting the drug problem in the country. (Malay PNP-PCR)
