BORACAY Island- The Ati community on this resort island will soon boost their productivity in promoting their products online.
This after, tech advocate Evelyn Talatala Clough donated a P5,000 package to be used to purchase two internet modems and wifi load for their community. The Boracay Island News Network (BINN) has facilitated the request for the said donation.
Among the products of the Ati tribes is agriculture which includes fruits and vegetables. Clough has roots in Kalibo, Aklan, and she was crowned last year the Mrs Tourism USA. The ati children could also make use of the modem for their assignments in school.
Her advocacy is to empower women, encouraging them to take advantage of the technology.
“Your passion can lead you to unimaginable heights! I was always fascinated by technology, which led me to pursue a degree in engineering. As a successful woman in technology, a woman of color, I have been fortunate enough to break the glass ceiling in an industry primarily dominated by men. Being recognized for something I love is truly humbling. ,” Clough an engineer said.
In the US, Clough has been invitedย to speak in different forums to talk about her advocacy empowering women to embrace technology.
The turnover of the donation will be held next week in Boracay. The Boracay Ati Tribal Organization (BATO) has already been informed of such a donation.
