KALIBO, Aklan—Many young ladies dream of becoming beauty queens. But what are the major ingredients in winning a crown?

Raymond Villanueva, an executive committee member of the Binibining Pilipinas Pageant, has this secret to share. The secrets include glowing skin and a healthy lifestyle.

“We noticed several winners of major beauty contests, both national and international, have glowing skin,” he said during a screening of candidates for the Binibining Kalibo Ati-atihan 2023.

Villanueva, together with co-judges Kris Raymondo, Charmaine Rogando, and Johndy Mendoza, met with the hopefuls this weekend. Of the 32 women who showed up, 21 of them have been selected as official finalists of the Binibining Kalibo Ati-atihan 2023. They will be presented to the public on December 1, 2022.

The pageant night will be held on January 10, 2023, in time for the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival. “As members of the countries in Asia, we are in a better position now to highlight our beauties. It is now our time to shine! I am here in Kalibo to look for potential beauties that would represent not only Kalibo but also the Philippines in international pageants,” Villanueva said.

On October 8, the local government of Kalibo launched its Opening Salvo for the Ati-atihan Festival. Rhea Rose Meren, the tourism chief of Kalibo said that the Opening Salvo of the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival held Saturday afternoon was already historic.
