Tiny Aklan town soon to have own hospital

Lezo, Aklan- LEZO may be the smallest town in Aklan, but a district hospital will soon be built there.

Outgoing Mayor Mary Lenette Fernandez on Friday said no less than Aklan Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores has approved the purchase of the lots for the projected hospital.

โ€œThis will be a great help to our constituents because we could soon save transport expenses in going to and from a public hospital in Kalibo once the district hospital operates,โ€ said Fernandez.

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon, chief of the Dr Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital (provincial hospital) said the rise of the district hospitals all over Aklan would decongest their facility from patients, improving health care services in the province.
The town of Lezo at the western district fourth-class municipality has only 12 villages within a 9.03 miles radius.
