PAFC-Aklan Unanimously Approved 30 Resolutions to Advance Agriculture in Second Executive Meeting

Kalibo, Aklan- The Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) Aklan convened its 2nd Executive Committee Meeting for the calendar year 2026 on February 18, 2026 at PGO Conference Room, Capitol Building, Kalibo. Presided over by PAFC Chairperson Mr. Arnulfo T. Magcope the meeting drew 35 attendees.
Following formal proceedings – call to order, quorum declaration, agenda approval and endorsement of prior meetings highlights.
– the council deliberated on critical initiatives and adopted 20 resolutions unanimously:
*Irrigation & Water Management: Resolution No. 9 recommends Provincial support for NIA’s solar-powered irrigation system in 4 municipalities of the Automated Irrigation Reporting System (ARIS) in the Aklan River Basin Master Plan (feasibility study by Engineering International Co.).
*Livestock Development: Resolution No. 10,11 backs the establishment of a Dairy Buffalo Provincial Stock Farm, while Resolution No. 12 authorizes swine dispersal under the INSPIRE Program to boost smallholder incomes.
*Agricultural Education: Resolution No. 13 endorses CHED’s initiative to offer a Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperative Management at Aklan State University (ASU) aiming to build competent coop leaders.
*Cooperative & Organizational Strengthening: Resolution No. 14,15,16,17, pus for DILG guidelines on coop development offices, PAFC Chair membership in the Provincial Agrarian Reform Coordinating Committee (PARCOM) and institutionalization of the DA’s Koop Kapatid Program for agri-cooperatives.
*Capacity Building & Support: Resolution No. 18,19,20,21,22,23 cover the Annual Gawad SAKA Search, tech-demos for Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), free insurance for AFC coordinators, Strengthening of rural youth clubs, funding for CSO/FCA trainings, and capacity-building support from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
*Sustainability & Resilience: Resolution no. 24, 25 endorses ASU’s “Building Resilient Communities along Aklan River (BRCAR2)” program, which uses bamboo to drive green economic growth and environmental protection.
*Administration: Resolution No. 26,27,28 appoint a new PAFC Secretary, recognize the outgoing secretary and nominate a Provincial representative to the National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB) Visayas Cluster.
The meeting concluded with commitments to coordinate with relevant agencies for timely implementation of all initiatives
