For many years, the members of the Boracay Sandcastle Makers Association have been creating unforgettable memories for our visitors through their handcrafted sandcastles. What may seem like a simple photo opportunity actually represents hours of dedication, creativity, and teamwork by local residents who depend on this craft to support their families.
The โฑ20โโฑ50 photo fee is not merely a payment for a pictureโit is a meaningful contribution to the livelihood of Boracayโs local community. Every peso helps sustain families, preserve a unique cultural tradition, and strengthen the islandโs local economy.
As part of the Municipality of Malayโs commitment to sustainable tourism, this activity is regulated under Municipal Ordinance No. 505, ensuring that sandcastle building is conducted responsibly and in harmony with environmental protection. The ordinance safeguards our beaches while providing a legitimate and regulated source of income for our local sand artists.
