Cebu City- Cebuโ€™s pristine beaches and world-class establishments are featured in the new K-drama series โ€œBoyfriend on Demand,โ€ now streaming globally on Netflix and starring BLACKPINK member Jisoo and South Korean actor Seo In-guk, Celebrity Tourism Ambassador of the Philippines.

The heart-fluttering romantic comedy follows a young woman who turns to a virtual dating service that gives her different romantic experiences.

Filmed in Cebu in February 2025, the series showcases some of the island provinceโ€™s beaches and tourism offerings. Tourism frontliners, hospitality staff, have their own scenes at the series, with the Filipino warmth and service taking the spotlight.

The series was spearheaded by the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) Korea Office, in coordination with the DOT Office of Film and Sports Tourism, the DOT Regional Office VII, and tourism stakeholders in Cebu, with support from airport authorities helping ensure the smooth arrival, departure, and stay of the cast and production team during filming.

โ€œUnder President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.โ€™s Administration, we continue to highlight not only breathtaking destinations of the Philippines but also the warmth and professionalism of our tourism workers who help create memorable visitor experiences. Through the continued collaboration of our overseas offices, local stakeholders, and industry partners, we hope to welcome more travelers to discover the diverse experiences that the country has to offer,โ€ Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.

โ€œWhen our destinations gain global visibility, it creates opportunities that benefit our tourism frontliners and local communities who help deliver the memorable experiences that keep visitors coming back,โ€ the Tourism Chief added.

Seo In-guk has lent his star-power for several tourism-related initiatives promoting the Philippines to Korean audiences, including tourism promotions, cultural exchange activities, and destination campaigns. His participation in the series further strengthens Cebuโ€™s visibility among Korean viewers, one of the Philippinesโ€™ most important tourism markets.

The DOT continues to intensify its marketing initiatives for the Korean market through joint promotions with airlines and major travel agencies, as well as digital and outdoor advertising campaigns.

Last year, a total of 1,346,301 South Koreans visited the Philippines. These make up 20.76% of the total international arrivals, making South Korea as the countryโ€™s largest source market. Cebu also remains one of the most popular destinations for Korean travelers due to its beaches, diving sites, and diverse tourism experiences.

โ€œBoyfriend on Demandโ€ premiered on Friday (March 6), with all ten episodes streaming on-demand via Netflix. The series currently ranks โ„–2 in its Top TV Shows in the Philippines.
