Boracay, IslandโThe Aklan provincial government announced Thursday that it has partnered with PisoPay to implement iPass, a unified ticketing system.
Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores told the local media that iPass would make travel to this resort island seamless, especially during this holiday season.
Miraflores was joined by Arielย Surca, president of PisoPay, and businessman Bong Tirol.
“This would surely boost the tourism of Boracay. We received unsolicited proposals from other companies, but PisoPay so far provided the best offer,” Miraflores added.
The PisoPay will now collect P150 for terminal fees,P150 for environmental fees, and P50 for boats. Foreign tourists are charged P300 each for environmenal fees.
Tourists are urged to register in advance using the PisoPay website. Some PisoPay staff will assist tourists at the Caticlan Port booth.
“Residents going to and from Boracay have still to fall in line and pay the manual fees. We will be launching an app for residents next year,” Surca added.
