DMW and SSS Sign MOA for Employee Social Protection

Employees of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) under the Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) arrangements now enjoy improved social protection through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Social Security System (SSS), marking a major step in delivering the essential benefits provided by the agency.

On behalf of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, DMW Officer-In-Charge, Undersecretary Felicitas Q. Bay, and Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, the doors of โ€œTahanan ng OFWโ€ were recently opened to SSS President Robert Joseph Montes De Claro, SSS President and CEO; Antonio S. Argabioso, Senior Vice President of SSS; as well as Secretary Dante Francis Ang II, Chairperson of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO). Usec. Bay emphasized the importance of strengthening social protection for dedicated government workers, starting with JOs and COS, as part of the DMWโ€™s mandate.

De Claro, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of the KaSSSangga Collect Program for JOs and COS, while also announcing a potential launch of a special initiative with DMW to assist OFWs. This initiative will facilitate their contributions to SSS via the SSS App, powered by partner banking institutions. Additionally, a โ€œloan lite programโ€ will be featured in the SSS App, allowing OFWs to borrow at a very low interest rate.
