DoT Convenes First High-level Cruise Tourism Meeting, Pushes Key Policy Network

Pasay City -Members of the Philippine Cruise Tourism Development Committee (CTDC) convened for their first high-level meeting following the committee’s reconstitution on Tuesday (March 17) at Hilton Manila in Pasay City. Key government agencies and stakeholders have gathered to strengthen coordination and accelerate cruise tourism development in the Philippines.

Department of Tourism (DOT) OIC Secretary Verna Buensuceso led the discussions on inter-agency updates and commitments, including cruise infrastructure development, harmonization of cruise tourism data, utilization of cruise visa waivers, and progress under the Maritime Industry Development Program.

The Department of Transportation, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and Department of Public Works and Highways, along with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, the Bureaus of Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine, the Philippine Ports Authority, and the Maritime Industry Authority, joined private sector representatives in outlining collaborative measures aimed at improving port operations, streamlining passenger processing, and enhancing the overall cruise experience.

The meeting concluded with a commitment signing ceremony, formalizing support for cruise tourism development and strengthening institutional mechanisms for sustained coordination among concerned agencies.
