MANILA, Philippines—Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reminded foreign nationals that they may continue to process their visa extensions online through the agency’s eServices portal.

The statement comes after a foreign national posted on social media claiming that the BI Siargao Field Office was “down” following typhoon damage. Viado confirmed that the office was among those affected by the recent weather disturbance but assured that efforts are ongoing to restore full operations.

“Please bear with us as we deal with the damage caused by the typhoon,” Viado said. “Many of our personnel and facilities were affected, but the majority of our offices nationwide remain operational. For those in affected areas, our online services remain available,” he advised.

Viado explained that through the BI’s eServices platform, foreigners can conveniently process their visa extensions and other immigration-related transactions online without having to visit an office in person.

“Our eServices portal allows foreigners to extend their visas and access several other services wherever they are,” Viado added. “This is part of our ongoing modernization efforts to make immigration services more efficient, secure, and accessible.”

Foreigners may access the BI’s eServices through e-services.immigration.gov.ph.
