PASAY CITY – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Philippine Government Employees Association (PGEA) officially rolled out last May 7 and 8 the GSIS-PGEA Speakers’ Bureau to educate members of their GSIS benefits and serve as a platform to address their concerns.

The maiden capacity-building activity themed “Totoo Tayo: PGEA x GSIS, Laban sa Fake News” was designed to equip PGEA’s key leaders with knowledge of the pension fund’s core programs, enabling them to confidently share correct and verified information, and preparing them as GSIS ambassadors within their workplaces and communities.

“Isa sa mga bagay na gusto nating malaman ng ating mga miyembro ay katotohanan. Napakaraming fake news. Kaya kami nakipagtulungan sa PGEA para magkaroon ng speakers’ bureau para ibalita ang mga proyekto ng GSIS. Gusto rin naming marinig kung paano ma-improve ang ating process at products to give you the ginhawa that we’ve always promised. Tulungan niyo kami para magkaroon sila ng idea kung ano ang mga ginagawa ng GSIS at bigyan kami ng feedback,” said GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso as he addressed the training participants.

PGEA National President Esperanza Ocampo shared that, “We will do everything not only to educate ourselves but also to educate others and to be a vanguard of the GSIS. We are eager to do this because it will protect the government employees. Marami po talagang nagsasabi na maganda itong speakers’ bureau. Dahil sa pagtutulungan ng GSIS at PGEA, ito ay naging posible.”

The speakers’ bureau is part of a strategic partnership formalized in June 2024 when both organizations signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance engagement and education of government employees on GSIS programs and services. Modules on GSIS’s mandate, membership, benefits, major programs, and presentation tips were discussed in the two-day training.

A total of 27 participants from various government offices in Luzon and Mindanao completed the training. Similar sessions will be rolled out in the coming months for participants in the other regions. Those who pass the training evaluation will be deployed as the official spokespersons of the GSIS and PGEA. They will conduct similar trainings to GSIS members with the supervision of the GSIS and support and monitoring of PGEA.
