
KALIBO, Aklan- The Provincial Health Office successfully conducted a Coordination Meeting with the Department of Health (DOH) on the Health Tourism Program, with Aklan proudly selected as the pilot site for its implementation.
The meeting was held at the Provincial Governorโs Office Conference Room and was attended by representatives from the DOH Central and Regional Offices, Provincial Tourism Office, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), and Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital.
Atty. Selwyn Ibarreta, Provincial Administrator, welcomed the participants and emphasized Aklanโs commitment to integrating health and tourism as a strategic approach to drive inclusive local development.
Dr. Leslie Ann Sedillo, PHO II, presented Aklanโs Universal Health Care (UHC) roadmap, highlighting how the Travel Health Network will help deliver accessible, safe, and efficient healthcare services not only for tourists but also for local residents.
The Health Tourism Program positions Aklan as a premier wellness destination while reinforcing the provinceโs health systems for long-term impact.
With health and tourism working hand in hand, Aklan is setting the standard for sustainable and people-centered development.
