LGU-Aklan Dedicates And Unveils Memorial Marker In Honor Of Capitol Lot Donors

The Provincial Government of Aklan, through the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan under the stewardship of Provincial Vice Governor and Regular Presiding Officer Atty. Reynaldo M. Quimpo, is set to honor the lot donors of the Provincial Capitol Site tomorrow, December 8, 2021 at 3:30 in the afternoon at the markerโ€™s ground within the Provincial Capitol Compound, Kalibo, Aklan.
The Ribbon cutting and unveiling of the Memorial Marker will be led by Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, Vice Governor Reynaldo M. Quimpo, Congressman Carlito S. Marquez, Congressman Teodorico T. Haresco and Descendants of Lot Donors.
The descendants representing the heirs of Dominador Merenz Gonzalez, Remedios Gonzalez Fernandez, heirs of Federico Mirto Quimpo and Pepita Gonzalez have confirmed their attendance to grace the said ceremony.
A brass historical marker erected at a very prominent and conspicuous location within the Aklan Provincial Capitol Compound with appropriate inscriptions crafted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, in consultation with the Governorโ€™s Office. In memory of the above-named donors, Special Ordinance No. 2018-024 was enacted entitled, โ€œAn Ordinance Naming Certain Provincial Roads Adjoining The Aklan Provincial Capitol Compound In Kalibo, Aklan In Honor Of The Donors In Grateful Recognition Of Their Invaluable Contribution To The People And Province Of Aklan And For Other Purposesโ€.
On April 25, 1956, then President Ramon Magsaysay signed into law Republic Act No. 1414 entitled โ€œAn Act To Create The Province Of Aklanโ€ with the Municipality of Kalibo as its capital. The first appointed Governor of the Province of Aklan was the late Jose Raz Meรฑez who served from 1956 to 1959 as the first Governor of the Province of Aklan. Among the primary tasks of the late Governor Jose Raz Meรฑez was to organize the various departments and offices of the provincial bureaucracy and establish the seat of government, the Aklan Provincial Capitol.
The late Spouses Federico M. Quimpo and Pepita M. Gonzalez-Quimpo (51.875%; conjugal), the late Pepita M. Gonzalez-Quimpo (10.266%; paraphernal), the late Spouses Dominador M. Gonzalez and Celerina M. Gonzalez (31.016%; conjugal), and the late Remedios Gonzalez-Fernandez, married to Sergio A. Fernandez (6.843%; paraphernal), used to be the owners, in fee simple, pro indiviso, of that certain parcel of land located at Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan containing a total area of 223,527 square meters, more or less, covered by Original Certificate of Title No. 0-138-139 of the Registry of Deeds of Aklan.
At the instance and upon the intercession of the late Aklan Governor Jose Raz Meรฑez, the late Spouses Federico M. Quimpo and Pepita M. Gonzalez-Quimpo, the late Pepita M. Gonzalez-Quimpo (in her own behalf), the late Spouses Dominador M. Gonzalez and Celerina M. Gonzalez, and the late Remedios Gonzalez-Fernandez, married to Sergio A. Fernandez, executed a Deed of Donation in favor of the Republic of the Philippines of an 66,905.80 square meters portion of the above-described parcel of land covered by Original Certificate of Title No. 0-138-139 of the Registry of Deeds of Aklan to be used as site of the Provincial Capitol.
The provincial roads presently adjoining the Aklan Provincial Capitol Compound, which all form part of the above-described donated parcel of land, are more particularly identified as follows: Road I with a length of 625.29 lineal meters and width of 20 meters, containing a total area of 12,505 square meters, more or less, beginning from Osmeรฑa Avenue (National highway) West of the Capitol Compound and North of the Northwestern Visayan Colleges Building and ending at the Cardinal Sin Avenue fronting the Infant Jesus Academy in the North East; Road II with a length of 410.31 lineal meters and width of 20 meters, containing a total area of 8,206 square meters, more or less, beginning from Road I fronting the residence of Erlinda Quimpo-Fernandez Wilson in the West and ending at the Cardinal Sin Avenue fronting the Aklan Interfaith Academy in the North East; Road III with a length of 216.73 lineal meters and width of 20 meters, containing a total area of 4,334.56 square meters, more or less, beginning from the Osmeรฑa Avenue (National highway) West of the Capitol Compound and North of the Capitol Tennis Court extending to Road II fronting the Philippine Postal Corporation in the North.
The 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan presided by Regular Presiding Officer, Atty. Reynaldo M. Quimpo has enacted Special Ordinance No. 2018-024 on September 17, 2018 during its 101st Regular Session, in grateful recognition of their invaluable contribution to the People and Province of Aklan in the establishment of the Aklan Provincial Capitol.
Through the said ordinance, the naming of the following roads in the Provincial Capitol, Compound was ordained as follows: Road I named FEDERICO M. QUIMPO AVENUE; Road II named as REMEDIOS G. FERNANDEZ STREET and Road III named as DOMINADOR M. GONZALEZ STREET.
โ€œIt is but fitting, and it now behooves the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan, to honor the donors and immortalize their generous and benevolent charitable acts and genuine love for their home province and the generations of Aklanons to follow, by naming the above-
described provincial roads adjoining the Aklan Provincial Capitol Compound in Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan, after themโ€, the Vice Governor said.
