Man armed with knife,screw driver arrested outside KIA

KALIBO, Aklan— Security at the Kalibo International Airport (KIA) was intensified this Wednesday after a man armed with a knife and screwdriver was spotted near the station of the Aviation Security Group of the Philippine National Police. 

In an interview, Lieutenant Marvyn Quinnoes, team leader of the Special Operations Unit (SOU) of the AVSEGROUP 6 at the KIA  said the suspect, who is a resident of Barangay Polo, New Washington, Aklan, was spotted roaming around the car park few meters away from the airport, apparently checking on some of the parked vehicles.

“Our aviation security personnel were able to corner the suspect as he apparently tried to run away from the airport vicinity.Upon interview, the suspect gave no immediate answer as to what he was doing inside the KIA premises armed with a knife and a screw driver,” Quinones said.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession and control were one(1) Philip screw driver and one (1) bladed weapon(knife) measuring more or less ten and half inches (10 & 1/2) long, including the scabbard tucked into his waist.

He was arrested near rhe barracks of AVSEGROUP along Cardinal Sin Avenue.
