Misamis Occidental –  Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Chairperson Secretary Leo Tereso Magno expressed full support for the leadership of Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal, citing his strong track record in local governance and his capacity to drive inclusive growth in Northern Mindanao.

Speaking during the province’s 96th Founding Anniversary celebration at the Bayfront Arena in Oroquieta City, where he administered Oaminal’s oath as the new Chairperson of the Regional Development Council in Northern Mindanao (RDC-X), Secretary Magno emphasized that MinDA will continue to work closely with the province in advancing priority development programs and projects.

“Governor Oaminal’s leadership is crucial for Mindanao’s growth,” Magno said.

“He has shown how good governance, peace, and development can work together. MinDA is here to support that direction and to make sure that the gains of Misamis Occidental will also benefit the rest of Mindanao.” Magno reaffirmed that under Oaminal’s leadership, the province has become a model of progress in the island, particularly in infrastructure development, agricultural modernization, and peace and order—key pillars that align with MinDA’s Building a Better Mindanao agenda and the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028. \

He noted that MinDA’s ongoing collaboration with the provincial government includes the endorsement of ₱1.372 billion worth of farm-to-market road (FMR) projects across Misamis Occidental, three of which are already under implementation in Oroquieta City, Plaridel, and Lopez Jaena.

He also highlighted the continued support for the completion of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project, which will link Misamis Occidental to the Zamboanga Peninsula and significantly boost trade and connectivity in the region. Magno said that Oaminal’s new role as RDC-X Chairperson also grants him a seat in the MinDA Board, where he will help align Northern Mindanao’s priorities with the national government’s development strategy. “Governor Henry will now be part of the discussions that shape Mindanao’s future, ensuring that regional priorities are fully integrated with national plans,” he added.

The MinDA chief further commended the province’s peace and order initiatives and its strong partnership with local agencies, which he described as essential foundations for sustained economic growth.

“If there is peace, there must be development,” Magno said.

“Misamis Occidental has shown that effective local leadership can transform peace into progress. MinDA will continue to stand with Governor Oaminal and support the province’s programs that uplift communities and strengthen the economy.”

Magno’s visit coincided with other major events during the 96th Founding Anniversary of Misamis Occidental, including the 4th State of the Province Address, the 6th ASEAN+ Chess Tournament, and the Asenso Trade Fair, all of which showcased the province’s growing role in regional development.

Under the partnership between MinDA and the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, more programs are expected to be implemented to promote inclusive growth, improve connectivity, and enhance the quality of life for Misamisnons.
