Oh Undas โ that magical time of the year when the entire Philippines goes on vacation mode, and every taga-abroad suddenly gets a flurry of messages starting with, โHi Kuya! Kamusta diyan?
While our kababayans in North America are busy at work โ coffee in hand, battling the cold โ the rest of the Philippines is on holiday fever. Cemeteries look like fiesta grounds, bus terminals like concert venues, and everyoneโs either buying candles, flowers, or lechon. The President even made it official โ an โextended National Day of Wellness,โ a.k.a. pahinga muna sa trabaho, tuloy ang bakasyon!
At siyempre, the real hero of this season โ our beloved OFWs. With the dollar hitting โฑ59.95, families back home suddenly become financial analysts:
Tapos โyung candles? Two hours lang sindi, pero โyung Tanduay, hanggang kinabukasan pa. Undas na nga, lahat buhay na buhay!
And after the cemetery? Diretso sa beach! Boracay looks like EDSA on a Friday rush hour. Ang motto ng mga Pinoy: โVisit the dead, celebrate with the living!โ Kaya ayan, dasal sa umaga, inuman sa gabi, wellness daw โyan!
Celebrate life, honor the dead โ pero sana walang dead drunk.!!
