

NEW WASHINGTON, AklanβA son coming from a poor family of fishermen has been recently recognized in Metro Manila for his outstanding feat in business and entrepreneurship.
Dr Ruffy Yu, who now heads the MM Resort and Convention Center in Barangay Malogo, New Washington here told the Boracay Island News Network that the award is naned as the 5th Asia Sterling Award (ASA)
Organized by the NCO Pacific Magazine, Β the publication aimed to become the biggest awarding body that would give recognition to businesses and achievers.
The awarding was given last August 25, 2024, at the Manila Hotel Aside from Dr. Yu, other awardees include Atty Kayla Gethsemane Acosta, Dr Ofelia Amores Monesit, Atty Alpha Faith Macaling, Raul Jesse Gomez II, Junell Estrella Rufino, and Ms Mary Shane Castrillo.Β
The organizer said Dr. Yu has an impressive career ‘that’spans multiple industries and continents, showcasing his exceptional versatility and dedication to excellence. In Aklan, he has been helping as a philanthropy by supporting scholars enrolled at the Aklan State University.Β
“I am helping because I felt the feeling of those poor people. I grew up in Barangay Tambak helping my parents to fish, I also survived walking several kilometers under the heat of the sun to go to school,” he added.
He earned his fortune through handwork and determination, which later provided him a chance to work in the health professions in the United States.
While in the USA, he has been a Licensed Real Estate Broker in California, USA, and has then served as a member of the board for the Delta Association of Realtors.
