DAGOHOY, Bohol- Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) completed the site development works for its 27MWdc Dagohoy Solar Power Project (DSPP) in San Vicente and Sta. Cruz, Dagohoy, Bohol, currently the first relatively large utility-scale solar power project under
development in the province. Once operational, the Php 1.2 Billion solar facility will boost indigenous power supply in Bohol, which has been dependent on imported power supply from Leyte and Cebu. PGEC is a joint-venture between publicly-listed and Yuchengco Group of
Companies affiliate PetroEnergy Resources Corp.(PERC) and Kyuden International Corp.
(KIC), the overseas investment arm of Kyushu Electric Power Company.

“All the major site development works, prior to the installation of the solar panels and major electrical facilities, have been completed by our contractor, Media Construction and Development Corp. We were able to proceed as scheduled and worked fast because of the strong
support from our partner government agencies, host communities, and the local government unit of Dagohoy headed by Mayor Hermie Relampagos,” said PGEC’s site engineer Frederick B. Pizana in an update to national print media last December 9, 2023.

Maria Victoria M. Olivar, PGEC VP for Commercial Operations added “By the second week of January 2024, our major contractors – Global Electric for the solar farm construction and Philcantech Enterprises for the electrical and grid connection – should be ready to start the
power plant construction. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this progress should allow PGEC to meet our commitment to the DOE and to our offtaker S.N.Aboitiz Power (SNAP).

In an interview with print media last Dec. 9, Dagohoy Mayor Hermie Relampagos reiterated his commitment to sustain an atmosphere that is welcoming to and supportive of investors such as PGEC. “The municipality of Dagohoy is really blessed to be the site of the first
large solar farm in Bohol. As I have shared with our constituents, this is a game-changer that will help our municipality transition from a fourth class to a third or even second-class municipality and will improve the living condition of our people. We are very thankful to PGEC for investing in our municipality. I even told PGEC that they can expand their project here and we will be more happy to welcome other investors in Dagohoy,” said Mayor Relampagos./PR
