SLP Aklan associations go digital

KALIBO, Aklan- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIโ€™s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Northwestern Visayas Colleges (NVC), successfully conducted a training on digital wallets and cybersecurity for SLP Associations in Aklan.

The one-day activity gathered representatives from 30 associations in the First District of Aklan to equip them with practical skills in managing digital financial tools and ensuring the security of their transactions and accounts.

Marvin L. Manuel, Provincial Officer of DICT Aklan, highlighted that in todayโ€™s digital era, this activity aims to equip association representatives with the tools to adapt to technological changes and support the growth of their enterprises.

Rovi Christine V. Gonzales, Provincial Coordinator of the SLP Aklan Provincial Program Management Office, emphasized that this is one of the many trainings designed to strengthen the associationsโ€™ capacity and knowledge in managing their enterprises.

The Provincial Team facilitated the activity by coordinating with DICT, the resource provider, and with NVC, which provided the venue and logistical support. This collaboration aimed to further enhance the knowledge and skills of the SLP participants.

DICTโ€™s Planning Assistant for Cybersecurity, AJ C. Tomco, served as the resource speaker and discussed โ€˜Financial Literacy: Understanding and Using Digital Wallets Safely and Cybersecurity 101.โ€™ This provided participants with practical knowledge on conducting digital transactions while ensuring the safe use of technology. Meanwhile, Provincial Officer Manuel introduced the eGovPh application to participants and presented its features, which allows SLPAs to access various government services in a single mobile application.

Participants expressed their gratitude and shared that the knowledge gained would be useful not only in managing their livelihood projects but also in handling their personal transactions. This initiative aligns with the SLPโ€™s goal of empowering communities by enhancing their adaptability to technological advancements and protecting their livelihood resources in the digital age./dswd6/cdf/Glory Mae P.
