
The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office VI (DOST VI) is set to host its 2025 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) from September 10 to 12, 2025, an annual event that showcases the transformative power of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in Western Visayas.
The 2025 RSTW in Western Visayas is set to take place at Robinsons Roxas City, Capiz, bannering the theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan” and the sub-theme, “Building Smart and Sustainable Communities”. The three-day event will showcase smart technologies and practical innovations, along with future-ready STI talks and sessions focusing on governance, disaster resiliency, the blue and green economies, education, robotics, and more.
In partnership with Capiz State University (CapSU), the Roxas City LGU, the Provincial Government of Capiz, and Robinsons Roxas, the 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) aims to engage thousands of participants, including MSMEs, students, local government units, national government agencies, private sector organizations, and other key stakeholders from Capiz and across the region. The official celebration kicks off on September 10, 2025, at Robinsons Roxas with the Opening Ceremony, featuring the launch of major STI projects and the awarding of regional winners of the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) PRAISE Awards and the Best Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Community Awards. These activities highlight DOST’s enduring commitment to delivering technological solutions and fostering strong partnerships for regional development. The 2025 RSTW STI Exhibits will likewise open on the same day.
Additionally, major activities for the three-day celebration also include the launch of the DOST Capiz iHub, a collaborative space designed to foster innovation; the Startup PH Podcast Series that will feature startups and innovative projects from Western Visayas and other regions; a series of interactive pitching activities and talks such as the Agri-Aqua Tech Pitch, Youth Explorers of Science or YES!, Ed Ted Talk, and the mBot Challenge: Robotics Workshop and Competition. Also part of the celebration is the conduct of a forum featuring DOST Balik Scientists entitled, “Fostering Innovation and Regional Excellence or FIRE: Igniting Collaboration in Science and Technology”, a conference of Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) consortia in the region entitled, “Consortia for Regional Excellence (CORE), From Innovation to Impact: R&D for the Filipino People”, and a design thinking workshop dubbed as the Capiz FyrFest.
The official Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Western Visayas will take place on September 12, 2025.
