Boracay Island- MS Noordam of Holland America Line made its maiden call to Boracay Island, marking a significant event celebrated with a formal plaque exchange aboard the ship on November 6,2024. This plaque exchange symbolizes LGU-Malayโ€™s appreciation for Holland America Lineโ€™s choice of Boracay as an excursion destination, bringing its passengers to experience the Islandโ€™s offerings.

The plaque exchange ceremony was represented by SB Member Hon. Jhonnel Casidsid, representing the Local Chief Executive, Hon. Frolibar S. Bautista. Joining the ceremony were representatives from various agencies and offices, including Atty. Mark Carpizo, on behalf of Aklan Governor Joen Miraflores and Cruise Ship Coordinator, Mr. Niven Maquirang; Sr. Tourism Operations Officer Kariza Joy Sofia from the Department of Tourism, representing RD Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez; Mr. Simbas Hisole of the Philippine Ports Authority; and Ms. Malou Bailon, Assistant Operations Manager for Benline Agencies.
This maiden call by MS Noordam represents the sixth cruise ship arrival to Boracay in 2024, with three more cruise ships expected to call in December.
The LGU-Malay, in partnership with the Province of Aklan and key stakeholders, continues its commitment to enhancing Boracayโ€™s status as a premier destination for cruise tourism, welcoming international visitors and fostering sustainable tourism practices.
