Roxas City-Businesses from the province of Capiz gained a lot from the free three-day Standard First Aid Training for private establishments conducted by DOLE RO6 through its Capiz Field Office and in collaboration with Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) and Capiz Provincial Health Office on November 11-13, 2024 at the Alunsina Hotel and Spa in Banica, Roxas City.

With the theme “First Aid Heroes: Empowering Workforce in Emergency Situations,” the training sought to further strengthen and upskill the competencies of employees from various establishments in handling emergencies in the workplace. The event targeted participating employees as it is a substantial compliance necessary to be fulfilled by their designated establishments.

DOLE Regional Director Atty.  Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. emphasized that the primary objective of DOLE is the effective implementation and enforcement of Republic Act No. 11058, which strengthens adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards to ensure a safe work environment.

RD Rodriguez urged the participants to promote and maintain health and safety in the workplaces to complement the recent increase in the minimum wage. He also called on employers to properly implement the new wage guidelines to guarantee fair compensation for workers, especially those in the vulnerable sectors.

DOLE RO 6-Capiz Field Office Dir. Joselito G. Dela Banda and Assistant DRRM-H Manager Ms. Jasmin G. Gallaza-Rabe led the DOLE RO 6 and PDRRMO Capiz trainers to conduct a productive and useful training for the benefit of the stakeholders of participating businesses. jpm/mcm/avr
