Kalibo, Aklan- As the Sto. Niño Ati-Atihan Festival (Atifest) 2026 prepares to bring together thousands of people in celebration of faith and culture, the Aklan Police Provincial Office leadership is emphasizing that effective security and order come not from strictness alone, but from balancing commitment to rules with genuine care for the community.
PLTCOL Belshazar Villanoche, Deputy Special Task Group Commander for Atifest 2026, reminded all deployed personnel to approach churchgoers, devotees, festival-goers, and the public with humility while enforcing regulations.
“Be firm in implementing the Executive Order for Atifest 2026 and all guidelines for maintaining peace and order, but do so with compassion and avoid any form of rudeness,” he emphasized. “Your uniform is not just a symbol of authority. It carries a heavy responsibility to uphold peace, and must never be abused.”
During a critique session, he directed Task Unit and Sector Commanders to conduct thorough pre-deployment briefings to ensure all personnel are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities on the ground. He also clarified special exemptions for the Pedestrian Screening Area: Priests, health workers including doctors, dentists, midwives, and nurses with clinics or assignments within the festival zone are allowed to enter provided they present pertinent identification documents. All personnel were encouraged to familiarize themselves with Executive Order 001, which establishes the general guidelines for the 2026 festival.
Meanwhile, PCOL Arnel Ramos, Provincial Director of Aklan PPO and STG Commander for Atifest 2026, urged all troops to carry out their duties with enthusiasm and dedication to make this year’s celebration safe, orderly, and meaningful for everyone involved. With well-prepared personnel focused on both duty and compassion, the festival aims to be a testament to how discipline can work hand in hand to create a positive experience for all.
