
Roxas City- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Capiz equipped 18 food-processing enterprises under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Key Ingredient for Seasoned Success: Food Product and Process Development Training. This training aimed to improve product quality, production efficiency, strengthen food safety practices, and develop market-ready products that can compete in the increasing demands of the food industry.
In her opening message, Ms. Juafe Abareles, Provincial S&T Director of DOST Capiz, described knowledge as the key ingredient for MSME success.
โThe knowledge that you will gain from this training can help you develop better products, improve your processes, enhance product quality and shelf life, and present your products more effectively to customers,” she said.
The training was guided by the resource speakers, Ms. Maria Bernarica B. Fusin, PFT, and Ms. Ailyn C Casia, PFT. The Participants went through a series of discussions about the product development process, starting from the formulation and testing to scale-up, costing, and standardization, emphasizing the importance of consistency and market readiness in the field of food processing. Ms. Fusin also introduced the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) services and highlighted the role of scientific testing in ensuring product safety and compliance with standards.
Among the participants, Jules Dusaran, owner of Cyleโs Food Products, described the training as valuable to his business, especially in improving their products and overall business.
โThe training provided practical guidance that will help improve our products, processes, and overall business operations,โ he said.
Mr. Christian Bitoon, the representative of the Office of Congressman Howard Guintu, gave words of appreciation to the department, highlighting the importance and the role of this training in building stronger local enterprises.
