
Manila- Region VI’s innovative Modern Tinolang Manok secured a Top 3 finish in the Walang Gutom Kusinero Cook-off Challenge Season 2, showcasing the culinary excellence of main cook Diena Benbinuto and assistant cook Bernadith Benbinuto, a mother-and-daughter tandem from Anini-y, Antique.
The duo impressed the judges with their modern take on the classic Filipino dish, highlighting the use of nutritious, locally available ingredients while promoting healthy, affordable, and culturally inspired meals for Filipino families.
The national cook-off competition was held on July 17, 2026, at the Quezon City M.I.C.E. Center, Quezon City Hall, bringing together talented kusineros from 12 regions across the country to celebrate culinary creativity and healthy cooking under the Walang Gutom Program.
The competition aimed to promote the preparation of nutritious, affordable, and culturally relevant meals, encourage the use of locally available ingredients, and inspire Filipino families to adopt healthy eating habits in support of the goals of the Walang Gutom Program.
The event was led by first lady Marie Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta-Marcos together with DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and Undersecretary Eduardo Punay. The Top 3 winners received cash prizes and plaques in recognition of their outstanding culinary skills and their contribution to promoting nutritious meals aligned with the objectives of the Walang Gutom Program.
